Most local enquiries start on Google, not on your website

Someone needs an emergency plumber. Someone else is looking for an accountant before the tax deadline. They pull out their phone, search, and three businesses appear on a map before a single website does. Those three get the calls. Everyone below is competing for what’s left.

Your Google Business Profile determines whether you’re one of the three. It’s free to have; most businesses have one, whether they’ve claimed it or not, and the majority are sitting half-finished – incorrect categories, no service areas, a description that no one has read since it was written, and photos uploaded by customers rather than the owner.

We work with local businesses across Northampton, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Kettering and Wellingborough – trades, salons, professional firms, anyone whose customers find them on Google – and it’s the same picture nearly every time. The profile exists. Nobody’s touched it properly.

That’s the whole offer. Three fixed prices below, and you can start with the audit if you’d rather see the problem before you pay to fix it.

Three ways to work with us

Whether your Google Profile needs building from scratch or just needs someone to take it seriously, there’s a fixed price for it below. No retainers, no minimum term, and nothing that renews unless you ask it to.

Not sure which one you need? Start with the audit – it’s the most affordable way to find out, and the £79 comes off the price if you decide to go further.

No one can guarantee you a position in Google’s search results; that is entirely Google’s decision, not ours. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something they can’t deliver. We can make sure your profile is complete, accurate, and presented well so that when Google displays your business, people have every reason to choose you.

What each service actually involves

Google Business Profile Audit – £79

For businesses that already have a profile but aren’t showing up where they’d expect.

We go through your profile the same way we’d go through a competitor’s, and tell you plainly what’s working, what isn’t, and what’s costing you enquiries. You get a written report you can act on yourself, or hand to whoever looks after your marketing. We make no changes to your profile as part of this service.

What’s Included

  • A detailed review of your Google Business Profile
  • Comparison against local competitors in your trade and area
  • A visibility assessment – where you appear, and where you don’t
  • Photo review
  • Services review
  • Analysis of your reviews and how you’re responding to them
  • A written action plan, prioritised by what matters most
  • Delivered as a 3 to 5 page PDF report

What’s Not Included

  • Any changes to your profile. These are recommendations only
  • Review management
  • Ongoing support
  • Google Ads
  • SEO services

The £79 comes off the price if you go further. Take the Optimisation within 30 days, and it’s £120 to complete. Take a package that includes a website, and the full £79 comes off that instead. The audit costs you nothing if you decide to act on it.

Google Business Profile Setup – £149

For businesses with no profile at all, one that’s never been claimed, or one that won’t verify.

Google’s setup process is straightforward until it isn’t. Claiming a listing someone else created, getting verified when the postcard never arrives, and working out which category you should actually be in are the points where most people give up. We handle it and stay with you until the profile is live and correct.

What’s Included

  • Profile creation, if you don’t have one
  • Help claiming an existing profile
  • Verification guidance and support throughout
  • Business information setup
  • Primary category selection
  • Contact details configuration
  • Opening hours
  • Website and social media links
  • Service area configuration
  • Initial services setup
  • Business description
  • Logo and cover photo upload, from images you supply
  • A full review of the profile before we hand it back to you

What’s Not Included

  • Ongoing profile management
  • Review generation campaigns
  • Website design
  • Local SEO campaigns
  • Google Ads management

Setup gets your profile live, claimed and correct. Optimisation goes considerably further and is the service that improves how you appear against competitors.

Payable in full before we begin. We’ll need manager access to your Google account, and work will be scheduled once payment has cleared and access is granted. Google controls verification timescales and methods, so we can’t promise a go-live date, but we’ll support you through every step of it.

Google Business Profile Optimisation – £199

For businesses that know something’s wrong and want it fixed rather than diagnosed.

This includes everything in the £79 audit, and then we make the changes. Categories are where most local businesses lose visibility without ever realising – you can be in a category that technically describes you but doesn’t match what customers actually search for. We fix that, along with everything else the audit turns up.

What’s Included

  • A full profile audit
  • Category review and correction
  • Service optimisation
  • Service area setup
  • Your business description rewritten
  • Opening hours review
  • Photo recommendations
  • Q&A optimisation
  • A competitor comparison report
  • A written summary showing your profile’s current state, the actions we took, and our recommendations for photos, review requests and posting

What’s Not Included

  • Google Ads
  • Website redesign
  • Ongoing monthly management
  • Review solicitation campaigns
  • Guaranteed search rankings
  • Third-party citation building

Completed within 5 working days, counted from the point payment has cleared and you’ve given us access to your Google account.

The written summary is the part that matters. You should be able to see exactly what you paid for and check it yourself.

Not sure which of the three you need? The audit is the cheapest way to find out, and it comes off the price if you go further.

Why your profile matters more than your website

Most local businesses spend their marketing budget on website design and leave the profile alone. It’s the wrong way round, and it’s easy to see why once you know how Google decides who appears in the map results.

Google ranks local results on three things

Relevance

How well your profile matches what someone typed. This is mostly categories and services. Get the category wrong, and you’re invisible for searches you should be winning, no matter how good your website is.

Distance

How close you are to the searcher or to the area they named. You can’t change your location, but you can set your service areas correctly so Google knows where you work rather than guessing.

Prominence

How well-known your business appears to be. Reviews, how complete the profile is, and whether your details match what’s on your website and elsewhere online.

Two of those three are things we can fix directly. The third gets easier once the first two are right, because a profile that shows up more gets asked for reviews more.

What a neglected profile actually costs you

Nothing dramatic happens when a profile is half-finished. No error message, no warning. You just quietly appear less often than you should, and you never find out about the enquiries that went to someone else.

That’s what makes it worth checking. A profile that’s been sitting untouched for two years isn’t broken – it’s just working at a fraction of what it could be, and the only way to know the difference is to look.

Not sure your website is pulling its weight either? A good Google profile sends people somewhere. If that somewhere is a website you’re not confident in, start with a free Website Health Check – no cost, no obligation, and you’ll have it within two working days. This will tell you if your website requires work. If you want to know exactly what is wrong, in what order, and what it will cost to fix, go with our 62-point Website Audit.

Questions We Get Asked

How much does Google Business Profile management cost per month?

It doesn’t. We charge a one-off fixed price — £79 for an audit, £149 for setup, £199 for full optimisation — and that’s the end of it. Most agencies sell this as a monthly retainer, which is fine if you want ongoing posting and review management, but the underlying profile work is a job with an end. We do the job, hand it back, and you’re not tied to anything.

If it’s your website you want managed monthly, that’s the Website Care Plan.

Can a Google Business Profile help generate more enquiries?

Yes. A well-maintained Google Business Profile can help local customers discover your business through Google Search and Maps, and contact you directly by phone or through your website.

Your Google Business Profile and website work best together. Your profile helps customers find you, while your website gives them more information about your services, builds confidence and makes it easier to enquire.

Can’t I just do this myself?

You can, and some of it is straightforward. The parts that catch people out are choosing the right primary category, claiming a listing someone else created, and getting verified when Google’s process stalls. If you’ve got the time and patience, the audit at £79 tells you exactly what to change, and you can do it yourself — we’re happy either way.

How long does it take?

The audit is a written report, usually within a few working days. Optimisation is five working days from the point payment clears and you’ve given us access. Setup depends on Google’s verification, which can take days or weeks — Google controls that process and the timescales are theirs, not ours, so we won’t promise a date we can’t hold.

Will this get me to the top of Google?

No one can promise that, and anyone who does is guessing. Rankings are Google’s decision and they depend on where the searcher is, what they typed and who else is nearby. What we can promise is a profile that’s complete, accurate and properly presented — so when Google does show you, people have a reason to pick you.

What access do you need?

Manager access to your Google Business Profile, which you grant from your own Google account and can remove at any time. We never need your password. The profile stays yours throughout — we work on it as a manager, exactly like adding a member of staff.

Find out where you stand

If you’re not sure whether your profile needs work, the audit tells you — £79, a written report you keep, and no obligation to do anything with it. If you decide to go further within 30 days, the £79 comes off the price.
