Professional Website Audit for Small Businesses

A complete review of your website, written by a person rather than generated by a tool. Every issue is explained in plain English, prioritised by impact, with estimated costs where they help you decide.

£79 – credited in full against any website package you take within 30 days.

Your report will be delivered within five working days of payment clearing. Payable in full before we begin. Full refund if we haven’t started.

What Is a Website Audit?

A website audit is a complete review of your website – how it looks, how it reads, how fast it loads, how easily people find it, and how easily they can contact you once they do.

You can get an automated version free in about thirty seconds. Paste your address into any of the well-known SEO tools and you’ll get a score out of 100 and a list of technical warnings. Those tools are genuinely useful, and we use them ourselves as part of our own process.

What they can’t do is tell you which of those warnings actually matters for your business, what fixing it would cost, or whether your website is losing you enquiries for reasons that have nothing to do with code. A tool doesn’t know that your phone number isn’t clickable on a mobile, that your contact form has been quietly failing since March, or that a customer looking for an emergency plumber at 11pm can’t tell from your homepage whether you cover their town.

That’s the difference. A tool gives you a score. An audit gives you a decision.

This is for you if:

  • Your website was built a few years ago, and you’re not sure it’s still doing its job
  • You’re getting visitors but very few enquiries
  • Someone quoted you for a rebuild and you want an independent view on whether you need one
  • You’re about to spend money on advertising and want the website ready first
  • You’ve inherited a website from a previous developer and don’t know what’s under the bonnet

What We Check

Every audit follows the same checklist, so nothing gets missed, and nothing depends on what we happened to notice.

First Impressions

What someone thinks in the first five seconds. Whether it’s obvious what you do, where you work, and how to get hold of you. Whether the design looks current or dated, and whether it makes the business look like one worth trusting with a job.

Getting in Touch

Every route a customer has to contact you is tested properly. Contact forms are actually submitted. Click-to-call is checked on a real phone. Enquiry routing, response prompts, and consistency of your details across all appearances.

Mobile and Speed

How the site behaves on a phone, which is where most of your customers will see it. Loading times, layout problems, tap targets, and the things that make people give up before the page has finished appearing.

Being Found

Page titles, descriptions, heading structure, image alt text, internal linking, and whether your website and your Google Business Profile agree with each other about who you are and where you work.

Content and Trust

Whether your pages answer the questions customers actually ask, whether your service areas are clear, and whether the proof a customer looks for – reviews, accreditations, real photographs of real work – is present and visible.

We check around sixty-two individual items across those five areas. You get the findings that matter, prioritised – not a sixty-two-line spreadsheet.

What You Receive

A written report, sent by email, within five working days of payment clearing.

  • Full findings from our complete audit checklist — everything we looked at, across design, content and performance
  • Complete recommendations — what to do about each issue, not just that it exists
  • Plain-English explanations — why each thing matters to your business, written for you rather than for a developer
  • Improvements prioritised by impact — what to fix first, what can wait, and what isn’t worth touching
  • Estimated costs, where appropriate — so you can budget before you commit to anything

The Report Itself

Typically eight to twelve pages, delivered as a PDF.

It opens with an overall assessment and a short summary of the three things that matter most, so you can read the first page and know where you stand.

The detail follows, section by section, with screenshots where they make the point better than words do.

It closes with a prioritised action list — a numbered set of next steps in the order we’d tackle them.

The audit is recommendations only. We make no changes to your website as part of this service, and the report is yours to act on however you choose. You can hand it to your existing developer, work through it yourself, or ask us to quote. Any website repair or improvement work is quoted separately, so you decide what – if anything – to go ahead with.

Health Check or Full Audit?

We offer two. One is free. Here’s the honest difference.

Free Website Health Check · £Free

Answers: Does my website need work?

  • Three things your website does well
  • Three priority issues holding it back
  • An overall assessment – Good, Fair or Needs Attention
  • A short Recommended Next Steps section

Two working days. No cost, no obligation, and you keep the report either way.

Best if you’ve never had your website looked at properly and want an honest opinion before you spend anything.

Professional Website Audit · £79

Answers: What exactly is wrong, in what order, and what will it cost to fix?

  • Every finding from our complete checklist, not just the top three
  • Full recommendations for each issue
  • Improvements prioritised by impact
  • Estimated costs where appropriate
  • Eight to twelve pages, with screenshots

Five working days. £79, credited in full against any website package within 30 days.

Best if you already know something’s wrong and need to decide what to do about it, or you’re being quoted for work and want an independent view first.

Plenty of people take the Website Health Check and stop there, and that’s a perfectly good outcome. The Audit is for when three findings aren’t enough to make a decision.

What it Costs

One-off. No retainer, no subscription, nothing to cancel. If you’d rather we looked after it on an ongoing basis instead, that’s what the Website Care Plan is for.

Take a website package within 30 days and the £79 comes off the price.

The full audit fee is credited against the Starter Website (£495), the Standard Package (£795) or the Growth Package (£1,127), if you go ahead within 30 days of your audit being delivered. Only one £79 is deducted, even if you’ve bought more than one audit from us.

The credit applies to website packages only. Example: £79 for the audit; take the Starter Website for £495. The balance due would be £416.

Payable in full before we begin – it’s under our £250 threshold, so there’s no deposit arrangement to work out. If we haven’t started work, we refund you in full. No questions asked. Your report arrives within five working days of payment clearing. The price above is the price you pay. Anything outside the scope of the audit is quoted separately, in writing, before we start.

Website Audit FAQs

A complete review of your website – design, content, speed, mobile performance, how easily you’re found, and how easily a customer can contact you once they’ve found you. You get a written report explaining what’s working, what isn’t, what to fix first, and what it’s likely to cost. No changes are made to your website as part of the audit.

Yes. Our Free Website Health Check gives you three things your website is doing well at, three priority issues, and an overall assessment, at no cost and with no obligation. It’s genuinely free, and you keep the report either way. The £79 Professional Audit goes considerably further – every finding rather than the top three, full recommendations, priorities and estimated costs. If you’re not sure which you need, start with the free one.

Ours is £79, fixed, published here rather than quoted on request. If you go ahead with a website package within 30 days, the full £79 comes off the price. Elsewhere, you’ll see audits offered free as a lead magnet and audits priced in the several hundreds – the free ones are usually automated or a sales document, and the expensive ones are usually aimed at larger sites than yours.

Five working days from the point your payment clears. Usually sooner, but five is the promise.

Not as part of the audit – it’s recommendations only. If you want the work done, we quote it separately once you’ve read the report and decided what you actually want done. Most people find some things they can fix themselves and some they’d rather hand over. You’re also free to take the report to your existing developer.

No. The audit is carried out from the outside, the same way a customer sees your site. All we need is your web address.

Yes. We’re based in Northampton and work mostly across Northamptonshire – Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough, Daventry and the surrounding towns – but an audit doesn’t need us on site, so we can review a website anywhere in the UK.
